Amandeep takes two-shot lead in first round of ninth leg of Hero WPGT

Bengaluru, July 3: Amandeep Drall, still looking for her first win of the season on the Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour, took a two-shot lead despite a late double bogey on the first day of the ninth leg of the Tour. Playing at the challenging layout of the Prestige Golfshire, which also hosted the previous leg last month, Amandeep was two-under through 16 holes, before she double bogeyed the Par-3 17th hole and ended with a 72.

It was the only par score and there were no under par rounds on a difficult and windy day.

Three players Ridhima Dilawari, Afshan Fatima and Suchitra Ramesh shot identical rounds of 74 each to be tied second, while Gaurika Bishnoi had just one birdie in her 75 and was fifth.

Khushi Khanijau and Gursimar Badwal were Tied-sixth with 76 and Neha Tripathi (77) was eighth. Siddhi Kapoor and Astha Madan rounded off the Top-10 with rounds of 78 each.

Amandeep, who has twice been runner-up this season, had three birdies and one bogey, on the Par-5 fifth, in her front nine. She dropped a shot on 11th, but picked up a birdie on Par-3 15th to get to two under. Then came the disappointing double bogey.

Afshan Fatima had four birdies and six bogeys in an eventful round, while Ridhima, one of the three players to have won twice this year, had three birdies and three bogeys with a double bogey on par-4 10th.

Suchitra Ramesh had three birdies and five bogeys, three of which came in the stretch between eighth and 11th.
