Aditi, Diksha to play at Women's Major Evian Championships this week

EVIAN-LES-BAINS, FRANCE, July 23:: Indian women’s golf takes another big stop as two girls, Aditi Ashok and Diksha Dagar are all set to tee off at the Evian Championships, the first of the two back-to-back Majors in Europe. While Aditi Ashok has played all the Majors – there are five Majors in a season on women’s circuit – Diksha makes her maiden appearance in a Major at the Evian Championships this week.

The total purse is $ 4.1 million and the winners take home $615,000. There are 120 players in the field and after 36 holes, the Top-70 will make the cut for the final two rounds.

Both the Indian girls will also be featuring in the Women’s British Open next week.

While this is Diksha’s first Major, Aditi plays her fourth Major of the year and she has made the cut only in US Open, where she was T-39. Though Aditi has been making a place for herself on the LPGA, her performances in the Majors have been below expectations with T-22 at the 2018 Women’s British Open, where she was T-22 last year, being the best.

Diksha hit the headlines soon after turning pro with a string of Top-10s and also won the Women’s South African Open and became the second Indian after Aditi to win a title on Ladies European Tour.

Meanwhile, the reigning Women’s British Open champion Georgia Hall will be back after a break this summer ahead of the two Majors. With back-to-back majors over the next fortnight, the 23-year-old from Bournemouth says she feels ready to perform to the best of her abilities. This week, she will tee up in the Evian Championship in France, which is the fourth major of the season, while next week, she will defend at the fifth major, the AIG Women’s British Open in England.

Diksha Dagar will play with two highly talented youngsters Mamiko Higa of Japan and Jenifer of the United States and they will tee off at 8.03 AM, while Aditi plays with Xiyu Lin of China and Ayako Uehara of Japan and they start at 10.15 AM.
