Neha and Tvesa ready for battle once again in 8th leg of Hero WPGT

Hosur, Tamil Nadu, June 26: Neha Tripathi and Tvesa Malik, who are less than Rs.8000 apart on the Hero Order of Merit on the Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour, will resume their battle this week in the eighth leg at the Clover Greens in Hosur.

Neha (Rs.6,43,400) and Tvesa (Rs.6,35,600) have both got one win each and are followed by Gursimar Badwal (Rs.5,86,500), who despite two wins is trailing in the third place on the Merit list, one spot ahead of Smriti Mehra (Rs.3,58,600).

Gursimar is the only multiple winner so far this season, while Neha, Tvesa, Vani and Sharmila have won once each. In the 7th Leg last week, the Tour had its first amateur winner of 2018, when Ridhima Dilawari won the title ahead of the pros. This week the amateurs are taking a break from the pro event.

Delhi girl Tvesa has been the most consistent this season with one win and a series of finishes in Top-3. She was runner-up twice and T-3 three times. Neha has one win and two runner-up finishes.

With both Vani and Sharmila focusing on the international events in Europe and elsewhere in Asia, the field is once again clear for Neha, Tvesa and Gursimar to clash for the top honours.

Amandeep Drall, who played some events outside India earlier in the year, has not been able to find the form that made her one of the top stars of the Hero WPGT. She is yet to find a win and was T-2 in the sixth leg for her best result of the season. She missed three events in between.

Gaurika Bishnoi, who hit the spotlight in the first two rounds of the Hero Women’s Indian Open late last year, is just getting back into full flow after focusing on academics and then playing in Thailand recently. She was also T-2 in the sixth leg and is now back looking for some good results.
