Diksha Dagar begins with solid four-under card, lies 4th in Morocco

Rabat, Morocco, April 25: Diksha Dagar continued the form that won her the South African last month as she opened the Lalla Meryem Cup on the Ladies European Tour with a solid four-under 69 on the Par-73 course. She was placed her fourth on the leaderboard.

The left-handed 19-year-old, only the second Indian to win a LET event, had seven against three bogeys, including two in the last four. She finished with a bogey after being five-under.

She trailed Line Boqvist by two shots. The Swede, Lina, was six-under through 10 holes with Camilla Lennarth (Swe) and Nuria Iturrios of Spain sharing second place at five-under.

Dagar also found her form on the greens. The 18-year-old from New Delhi, who suffered a wrist injury on the eve of the event, said: “I was able to read the line correctly and make all the putts. In Morocco, it’s easy for me to read the greens and I love these kind of greens.”

Dagar birdied fourth, fifth and eighth on the front nine and dropped shots on sixth and ninth. On the back nine she birdied 12th, 14th, 15th and 18th and dropped a shot on 16th.

Among the other Indians, Vani Kapoor was T-31 at one-over, while Amandeep Drall was two-over through nine holes, Tvesa Malik had finished at three-over and Astha Madan was three-over through eight holes.

Camilla Lennarth and Nuria Iturrios wasted little time in getting to grips with the new greens on the Blue Course at Royal Golf Dar Es Salam as they posted a pair of five-under-par 68s.
